Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District is offering 12 AmeriCorps positions in the Central Ohio Collaborative for Conservation. The Central Ohio Collaborative for Conservation partners with 6 agencies in central Ohio where AmeriCorps Members will be placed, to improve local ecosystems and increase resilience against climate change. These partners include: Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, Friends of the Olentangy Watershed, Grange Audubon Center, Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Stratford Ecological Center.
This is a national service program with a living stipend and other benefits for individuals wanting to gain more experience and serve their community. Members will serve 1700 hours over a period of one year.
General duties:
• Assisting with a variety of natural resources related data collection for partners and the District.
• Field work including but not limited to: invasive species removal, tree planting, stream and litter cleanup.
• Assisting outreach staff to provide information and education at weekend events.
• Assist with host site projects.
Qualifications:
• Must be at least 17 years of age by their start date on October 1, 2023.
• Must have a HS Diploma or GED certificate.
• Members must be able to pass a criminal, FBI, and DMV background check (Note: having a background does not automatically exclude them from membership).
• Members must accept the position as a full-time priority and be able to complete 1700 hours of service.
• The ability to safely traverse and navigate through rough and brushy terrain with ticks and poison ivy in the summer heat while carrying GPS equipment is required.
• Able to demonstrate some knowledge of or an appreciation for natural resource conservation.
• Able to secure transportation to and from work and events.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
• Familiarity with popular computer software (including, but not limited to, MS Word, Excel, and Publisher).
• Able to take direction and respond positively to feedback.

• Living stipend of up to $20,400 for the service year.
