- Seeking service-oriented people to provide elementary level tutoring for K-5 students in the Dayton area as a Member of Ohio Reading and Math Corps
- Work with students who are below-proficient in reading or math (based on your preference and school availability) for their grade level.
- Receive training to prepare you to be an effective tutor, plus ongoing support throughout the school year
- Members are assigned to one school for the school year (following training and going through May).
- Members will provide tutoring to a set list of students in small groups or in 1:1 settings.
- This is a great way to give back to the community, help students, and get your foot in the door if interested in obtaining a job in a school district.
This is a service position with AmeriCorps, requiring 30 hours/week following the school schedule. Typical schedule is M-F, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. High school diploma required. No maximum age limit. In return for service, Members receive a stipend of $1,600 per month, plus an Education Award of up to $3,697.50 upon completion of the term. This can be used to pay student loans or tuition.
