The Refocus Photo and Video Program seeks dedicated volunteers to support veterans in learning photography and videography as emotional expression and healing tools. Volunteers will assist instructors in the classroom, helping veterans understand the technical aspects of photography, guiding them through practical exercises, and fostering a supportive learning environment. This role is essential to ensuring that each veteran receives personalized attention and encouragement as they develop their creative and professional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist instructors in setting up classroom materials, cameras, and lighting equipment.
- Provide one-on-one guidance to veterans during hands-on sessions, ensuring they understand camera functions, composition, and lighting techniques.
- Offer support during photo walks and studio shoots, helping veterans apply what they’ve learned.
- Encourage veterans to express themselves through photography and videography, fostering an inclusive and compassionate environment.
- Help veterans select and edit their photos for class discussions, providing constructive feedback in collaboration with the instructors.
- Assist in organizing classroom sessions, ensuring all materials and equipment are in place for a smooth learning experience.
- Participate in end-of-session recaps, helping veterans reflect on their progress and accomplishments.
