Northwest Ohio gardeners, along with Sara’s Garden's teen volunteers and New Horizons Academy's junior high and high school students, will teach our special needs children and youth how to plant seedlings, plants, and flowers. They will immerse the youth in “green therapy” and assist all of the children with gardening, accommodating the tasks to their abilities. The volunteers and gardeners will work closely with staff and help supervise and assist the preschool to middle school special education youth. This may be the first time that many of our special needs students get a chance to “get their hands dirty,” give back to their community, and make their world a better and more beautiful place to live, play, and grow in.
