Caring Adults Needed!
iC.A.R.E. Mentoring, a program of Red Oak Behavioral Health, matches caring adults to mentor one student, once a week, for one school year. Our volunteers work with K-12 students in the Akron, Barberton, Cuyahoga Falls, and Tallmadge public schools. We support our volunteers with training, supplies, and a fun & interactive workbook that covers important skills such as goal setting, resilience, and self confidence.
Why mentor?
Youth of all ages benefit from having a relationship with a caring and consistent adult role model.
Student with a mentor are:
- 55% more likely to be enrolled in college than those who did not have a mentor.
- 52% less likely than their peers to skip a day of school.
- 46% less likely than their peers to start using illegal drugs and 27% less likely to start drinking.
