- We will repurpose a neglected and unutilized paved area, approximately 24x27 feet, between our buildings as a pocket park. This space will be resurfaced with more attractive materials and be made accessible to those with mobility challenges. Seating areas in both sun and shade will provide an outdoor area for taking lunches, hosting small events, and most importantly, a refuge of quiet and natural beauty. The future park will also preserve and enhance the view of our shared community garden, inviting residents and artists to collaborate with plantings of food crops, flowers, and herbs. We will seek to blend the aesthetics of the garden and the park with large containers of fragrant and beautiful plants among the seating areas, and a path leading into the garden from the park entrance.
- Day of Service activities will focus on resurfacing (moving gravel, shovel-and-rake work), and installing fence panels, planter boxes, and seating areas.
