Join us for a rewarding year of service!  AmeriCorps is a great opportunity for a gap year, recent college graduates, and current college students. Veterans, older adults, and others seeking to make a difference in their community are also encouraged to apply. Positions include gain hands on experience working with students, families, or older adults in Cleveland, Ohio and beyond. 

Youth Focused Programing:  Help build the next generation of leaders by serving K-12 Cleveland Metropolitan School District students during the school day, in afterschool and summer programs. Depending upon your skills and interests, your home base will be with one of NCA’s following host site partner organizations. Each partner offers exciting and unique opportunities:

America SCORES Cleveland, Lexington-Bell Community Center, Open Doors Academy, Promise Academy and NCA’s Partners for Student Success (P4SS)

Older Adults:  Combat social isolation in older adults 55+ by delivering in person and remote programing. Sessions include individualized and/or group digital tech trainings (aimed at helping older adults overcome tech anxieties, build digital skills, and develop confidence), programing focused on health and wellness, art, gardening, book clubs, movies and much more!  Depending on your skills and interests, your home base will be with NCA’s IConnect program. 

Benefits of AmeriCorps Service

Living Allowance: Full-time members receive up to $21,000, 3/4-time members receive up to $16,891 and half-time members receive up to $12,668.

Gain training and professional development skills.

Earn a Segal Education Award equivalent to the maximum amount of the Pell Grant upon the successful completion of service hours: up to $7,395 (full time); $5,176.50 (3/4 time); $3697.50 (half time).  The education award may be used towards educational expenses or current/future student loans.

Commitment

  • Full-time members complete 1700 service hours (approximately 40-hours/week)
  • 3/4-time members complete 1200 service hours (approximately 30 hours/week)
  • Part-time members complete 900 service hours (approximately 20-hours/week)

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED, some college preferred
  • Must be a US Citizen, National, or Legal Permanent Resident
  • Must undergo and pass a criminal history background check
  • Passion and perseverance for service
