Description

Help tend the garden areas at the Carter Historic Farm by planting, weeding, and harvesting fresh produce for food pantry donation.

Carter Historic Farm is a working farm and living history center interpreting life on a Depression-era farm.

Using sustainable practices and a of love for gardening, volunteers help keep the farm beautiful for visitors and growing produce for donations. in 2020 we donated 1,300 lbs of produce to the Brown Bag Food Pantry. This year, with your help, we’ll be able to donate even more

The Carter Historic Farm property is large with a restored wetland in the rear of the property, a woodlot and trail, 1890s Zimmerman Schoolhouse, demonstration fields, vegetable garden, and many outbuildings.

***You may volunteer anytime between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm while staff are available. The 9:00 am time is merely a suggestion to be before the heat of the day.

Materials are provided. Please bring your own work gloves. Work/gardening glove use is requested while handling tools. Please bring a reusable water bottle with water to drink.

We understand that there are days in which life gets in the way and you will not be able to attend. We completely understand. Just let us know so we don't worry about you. :)
