Our school building is over 60 years old and the condition matches the age! Our Kindness Club students wanted to give facelifts to the restrooms ( 4 that are shared by a school of a 600 students ) and the library. Both spaces are not only outdated, but do not give the inviting, cheerful, and encouraging feel that should be in an elementary building. Students selected vinyl stickers that match our school theme of "Riding the Wave to Success" and our social / emotional program Leader in Me that will be used to spruce up the areas. Students and adults will clean up the areas, remove some of the old decor and furniture in the library, and decide where to place the vinyls so they are most appealing. We're also going to purchase some flexible seating options and have students help reconfigure the library in a more modern way to promote collaboration and project based learning.
