The Ohio Center for Law-Related Education (OCLRE) is a civic education nonprofit that provides Ohio’s students and teachers with exciting academic programs and resources to engage students in learning about government, law, and the importance of active citizenship. OCLRE has been providing hands-on learning opportunities since 1983, empowered by the many volunteers who give their time to provide authentic learning experiences for students.
Mission
To improve society by developing citizens empowered with an understanding of our democratic system
Purpose
Educating and empowering Ohio’s youth to be active members and protectors of our democracy
Core Values
Quality service to educators • Excellence in programming • Motivating our future leaders
What We Do
Sponsored by the Supreme Court of Ohio, the Ohio Attorney General, the Ohio State Bar Association and the ACLU of Ohio Foundation, OCLRE’s programs and resources provide original and hands-on learning opportunities for students in grades 4-12. Aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards, OCLRE’s interactive programs spark lively classroom discussions and help students develop and enhance their problem-solving and analytical thinking skills. Among OCLRE's most popular programs are Mock Trial, We the People, and Moot Court. These programs engage students in authentic work, learning about the law and the U.S. Constitution.
