Sufficient Grace Ministries for Women

Sufficient Grace Ministries for Women, a 501 (c ) 3 non-profit, non-denominational organization, was founded by Kelly Gerken in 2004, with the purpose of reaching out to women and families to offer comfort, encouragement and hope. The Dreams of You division of this ministry was created specifically to provide comfort to women and families who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death. Sufficient Grace Ministries offers a comprehensive list of support options for bereaved parents, and parents currently carrying a baby with a life-limiting diagnosis. A team of staff, leaders, and volunteers helps us offer the wide range of free services we make available to more than 1,200 bereaved families each year, worldwide, fulfilling the mission of SGM to offer the same comfort to others we received from the Lord in our time of need. Our mission is to provide exemplary support for families and to train others to do so. Bereaved parents are never asked to pay for products or services. SGM is supported through donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and other organizations. Currently, over 150 volunteers serve with SGM.

Comfort Companions: SGM provides in-person support to bereaved families going through an emergent loss at hospitals throughout Ohio. A Comfort Companion assists the family with memory-making activities and support during this very difficult time. A Comfort Doula provides the same support as a Comfort Companion, and they are able to provide labor support as desired by the families. A Remembrance Photographer captures and provides the family with photographs of these limited moments spent with their baby. Crafting Volunteers: Over 100 SGM Crafting Volunteers make blankets, hats, outfits, gowns, bracelets, canvases, etc. These volunteers also cut and sew bear shells, then partner with HUNDREDS of generous people every year to stuff and complete the SGM Comfort Bears. So many helping hands, so many hearts, and so much love is poured into every item given to the families we serve at SGM. Whether giving a mother a Comfort Bear to hold as she grieves the loss of her baby, or creating clothing for babies born at any age or gestation, SGM Crafters bless families with tangible evidence that their babies lived and their babies matter.
