Horizon Education Centers

Horizon Education Centers operates 13 early learning centers for children 6 weeks to 12 years, in addition to several after school programs. The mission of Horizon Education Centers is to provide high-quality early childhood education, care, and youth development programs.

Horizon Education Centers will engage 11 AmeriCorps service members to provide childhood obesity prevention programming in the cities of Berea, Cleveland, Elyria, Lakewood, Lorain, and North Olmsted, Ohio. This is a national service position for which participants receive a living allowance  in lieu of a salary. AmeriCorps members will be responsible for reducing childhood obesity among students served and their families. Program-specific duties include: Plan lessons on nutrition and physical activity for preschool and school age children. Connect families to community resources that address health and nutrition needs. Provide health and nutrition information to parents.
