Who We Are
FC AUXCOMM is a team of amateur radio operators and communicators trained and prepared to provide emergency communications capabilities when there is a major gap in connecting with the public, public safety, critical infrastructure, the state or federal government. Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) operates within FC AUXCOMM to provide a strategic communications capability during national security threats, and national security emergencies to connect with appropriate local, state, and federal government entities in the event the United States President restricts amateur radio to emergency communications during such a crisis. Shared Resources (SHARES) is a high frequency radio program administered by CISA. SHARES provides an additional means with a national security and emergency preparedness mission to communicate when landline and cellular communications are unavailable. SHARES members use existing HF radio resources to coordinate and transmit messages needed to perform critical functions, including those areas related to leadership, safety, maintenance of law and order, finance, and public health. An amateur radio license and an amateur radio organization sponsor is required to join FC AUXCOMM. Licensed amateur radio operators trained in net control operations are preferred.
What We Do
Auxiliary Communications (AUXCOMM) is a nationwide amateur radio concept administered by the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The AUXCOMM concept is to educate as many amateur radio entities as possible to work and train with public safety personnel, understand NIMS ICS concepts.
