Who We Are
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program trains volunteers to help themselves and others in the immediate aftermath of a disaster and to provide directed-assistance to public safety and City officials in the aftermath. Also, CERT members assist their communities year-round at local events; in the aftermath of severe weather; or at any other venue where city leaders need the assistance of additional personnel. We currently have several hundred Seven Hills, Independence, Valley View and Brooklyn Heights (known as QUAD CITY CERT) residents and employees who have completed QUAD CITY CERT training.
What We Do
While people will respond to others in need without the training, QUAD CITY CERT provides the basic training to help trained volunteers respond, and guide others in responding, effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in unnecessary danger. The program includes training on disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact your area as well as teaches basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, terrorism and disaster medical operations. Certification is also offered for AED/CPR and STOP THE BLEED. Any Seven Hills, Independence, Brooklyn Heights and Valley View resident who is interested in serving their community as a volunteer member of the QUAD CITY CERT is welcome to complete an application. The application forms are available online at www.quadcitycert.org
