The Miami County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is a support agency that is authorized by Ohio Revised Code to coordinate and administer countywide all-hazards emergency management and disaster preparedness functions for Miami County and its political subdivisions.

Through the EMA, disaster preparedness and public safety related emergency management activities are coordinated to serve and protect the public.

We never know when disaster will strike. This volunteer opportunity seeks to connect with community members that would be willing to help with disaster response in Miami County.

Duties may be varied; please tell us what you might like to do when you sign up. Specific needs could include: administration, damage assessment, debris clean up, or collection and delivery of supplies.

OHuddle is seeking adult volunteers to dedicate one hour per week to match 1:1 in mentorship with a school nominated youth.

As a mentor with The Legacy Project of Stark's school-based programs, you will provide a much needed service to students in Stark County! Your group will consist of yourself and a co-mentor and up to 6 students. Your group will be held during lunch time, once a week, inside a local school building. During your time together you will be working with the students to express care, challenge growth , provide support, and a safe space. You will be working with them to develop social and emotional skills and their developmental assets to help each student not only succeed, but to thrive!

Help the Arts Park, gain some experience and use your creativity by joining us as a marketing intern.  Duties may include:

- creative development with Canva

- prepare communications for mailings

Role Description

This role requires the volunteer to be physically present at the facility for 1 day a week Monday-Wednesday (between 8am to 4pm) for 2 hours or more if available. 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is studying to become a teacher and/or enjoys working with children. As a childcare assistant you will supervise, distribute snacks, and help with light cleaning. The children also need help catching up with homework.

Habitat for Humanity of Wood County seeks volunteers with varied skill sets, who have time, and can offer it to our cause on a regular basis. Join our events committee to plan and execute community and fund raising events. Work on one or many events. Take on one or many tasks including, but not limited to:

Organization Description:

International Student Services Association is a non-profit organization that focuses on assisting lower income immigrant high school students in achieving their career aspirations. Our workshops and programs are designed to provide information, inspiration, and motivation for students to navigate their education and develop their future careers beyond high school. Our tailored programs equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to successfully apply to college, build a resume, gain work experience, and achieve their career goals.

Role Description:

This is a temporary, on-site role located in Cleveland, OH for an Email Marketing Certification high school Teacher. The successful candidate will contribute by teaching email marketing workshop to students once per month for three-four workshop on Friday 4:30PM-5:30 PM EST. The position involves creating lesson plans, teaching live, grading coursework and mentoring students as necessary. The successful candidate will be a skilled marketer, teacher, communicator, and mentor, showcasing their expertise and enthusiasm for email marketing in all aspects of the role.

As a part of our free wig program, we are looking for a few volunteers to help women find and try on wigs, hats, scarves, etc from our large supply.  

Social isolation in older adults can have the same health impact as smoking 15 cigarettes per day. To assist in reducing social isolation and its health impacts, Benjamin Rose relies on the support of volunteers to help serve older adults throughout Cuyahoga County. By making calls to older adults once a week, you can help ease social isolation, increase connectedness, and support older adults in the community!

Calls last approximately 20 minutes each and are done from the comfort of your home. Volunteers are paired with an older adult and work together to schedule the best time for weekly calls.

In just a couple of hours, you can help bring much needed meals to older adults in your community! At Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging, we believe that access to fresh, healthy and filling food is an important aspect of maintaining wellness and preventing malnutrition.

Using their own vehicle, volunteers bring already prepared and packaged medically tailored meals to older adults who are a part of our Home Delivered Meals Program. Volunteers pick up meals from our Margaret Wagner Apartments and deliver to individual's homes. Our clients are located throughout Cuyahoga County. Volunteers deliver meals on weekdays starting at 10:00 a.m.

You may be lifting up to approximately 40 pounds of food, repeatedly and placing it in cars. Ohio University has the goal to increase the quality of life in Athens County through AmeriCorps members creating and supporting social and physical environments that promote good health and wellness for all. COMCorps will partner with host-site organizations which include schools, nonprofits, healthcare systems and county-level government agencies. Through service, members and organizations will address social determinants of health with a trauma-informed approach directing members in creative, community-generated solutions to pressing local needs. Members will create and support social and physical environments that promote good health through activities that address the social determinants of health by providing life-enhancing resources: healthy food supply, gardening, social connectivity, transportation, and knowledge of healthy habits. Members will promote a sense of community (social networks, social support, social participation, and/or community leadership) and increase access to programs that address poverty, childhood development, food insecurity, social exclusion, addiction, food, transportation, and health services. In every interaction, members will embody and model safe, secure, stable relationships for children and adults. COMCorps is where members turn passion into purpose. COMCorps strives for every member to have a transformative experience while serving. Anticipated member outcomes include a wider perspective on societal issues, an understanding of individuals who have had a life different than their own, a better understanding of self and unique skills brought to a variety of roles, greater confidence, an understanding of trauma-informed approaches to community care, and community collaboration. 

The PBJ Truck was established on 10/20/2019 when our family bought an antique ice cream truck to facilitate the distribution of free peanut butter jelly lunches to the Northeast quarter of Marion, Ohio right at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.   Our little project quickly grew from a family project to an entire community working together to refurbish and stock the truck to serve entire sack lunches due to the immense need the pandemic created!  Marion has many households which are not equipped to take advantage of the food pantries and community meals offered in addition to social services.  Even sending children to free meal sites is challenging for some, and there are pride barriers and other factors that prevent families from accessing services.  Our model was designed to fill that gap.  Our model is to drive around blasting Buckwheat Boyz’ Peanut Butter Jelly Time song!  When someone approaches one of our three trucks, we hand them a free lunch!  We feed pedestrians, children playing, families who come out of homes/cars, homeless camps, and when we get rained out then we take our sandwiches to Be Ministries (a resource and warming center).  We are currently serving around 600 meals weekly all over Marion!

Our sandwiches are all made by volunteers.  They pick up peanut butter/jelly/baggy kits from us, and purchase 6 loaves of bread to make sandwiches for an evening’s run!  Volunteers sign up through the links on our facebook page or website.  Because the system is entirely no-contact, it’s convenient for our volunteers to fit time for our community into their lives.  They do each step of the process as their own time allows, and so we benefit from volunteers who have time to donate outside of typical nonprofit business hours.  We have some “regulars” who sign up often, including many individuals, nursing homes, hospital wings, cub scout troops, church groups, high school sports teams, high school special education classrooms, and ladies’ groups.  We also sign paperwork for those doing community service through our sandwich-making program.  We love to hear stories about how families use this opportunity to teach their children about volunteerism.

Awakening Your Child's Total Potential is seeking resources to support our Computer Refurbishing, Mentorship, and Computer Education Program. Our goal is to optimize our efforts to refurbish more old computers and donate them to those low-income students of Cincinnati High Schools who have limited learning resources and support. Moreover, these students are at risk of taking on improper or hazardous jobs after graduating from high school since their families are struggling to provide their children with proper cognition development and career guidance. Therefore, we also intend to attract volunteers to provide computer education and mentorship to provide not only technology but also career support to encourage academic capabilities in students.

Target population who will benefit from this program:

The project is to serve mainly low-income students in Cincinnati, particularly those whose families are facing language barriers and rely on social welfare.

However, low-income families who lack the resources to purchase computers are left feeling helpless and inferior. This is where Computer Refurbishing comes in, providing learning and work tools for those students so that they can own their computers to exposure to technology, which can boost their confidence, self-esteem, and quality of life, as well as enhance their learning motivation.

CorsoCare Hospice is seeking compassionate, empathetic individuals who are willing to give their time and supportive presence to become Vigil NODA "No One Dies Alone" volunteers. These incredibly special volunteers are asked to provide support to our actively dying patients in facility settings and private homes. This includes sitting by the bedside, providing calming music or supportive presence (conversation/reading/gentle touch) and supporting grieving families at the bedside.

Please note: If you are new to hospice or NODA volunteering, as part of your training, you will be asked to serve as a Companion Volunteer for a period of 1-2 months to ensure it is a fit. This is due to the sensitive nature of NODA Volunteering and is subject to Volunteer Coordinator approval.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone who has administrative experience and has the desire to give back in a way that truly helps others. This is a flexible schedule (2-4 hours per week). You pick the days and times you want to come in. We just ask that it’s within regular business hours.

Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District is offering 12 AmeriCorps positions in the Central Ohio Collaborative for Conservation. The Central Ohio Collaborative for Conservation partners with 6 agencies in central Ohio where AmeriCorps Members will be placed, to improve local ecosystems and increase resilience against climate change. These partners include: Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, Friends of the Olentangy Watershed, Grange Audubon Center, Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Stratford Ecological Center.
This is a national service program with a living stipend and other benefits for individuals wanting to gain more experience and serve their community. Members will serve 1700 hours over a period of one year.

General duties:
• Assisting with a variety of natural resources related data collection for partners and the District.
• Field work including but not limited to: invasive species removal, tree planting, stream and litter cleanup.
• Assisting outreach staff to provide information and education at weekend events.
• Assist with host site projects.

Qualifications:
• Must be at least 17 years of age by their start date on October 1, 2023.
• Must have a HS Diploma or GED certificate.
• Members must be able to pass a criminal, FBI, and DMV background check (Note: having a background does not automatically exclude them from membership).
• Members must accept the position as a full-time priority and be able to complete 1700 hours of service.
• The ability to safely traverse and navigate through rough and brushy terrain with ticks and poison ivy in the summer heat while carrying GPS equipment is required.
• Able to demonstrate some knowledge of or an appreciation for natural resource conservation.
• Able to secure transportation to and from work and events.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
• Familiarity with popular computer software (including, but not limited to, MS Word, Excel, and Publisher).
• Able to take direction and respond positively to feedback.

Delaware County Historical Society has many program, events, and publications that need the talent of a graphic designer.

Graphic Designers (1-3) – to help create flyers, posters, images for social media and update brochures, etc.

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate.  CASA volunteers are highly trained community advocates who are appointed by the court to cases of child abuse and neglect.  As officers of the court they act as the eyes and ears of the court.  CASA volunteers meet with the children assigned to their case and independently gather information from others who are involved in the child's life.  The CASA volunteer then reports back to the court about the status of the case and makes recommendations regarding the best interest of the child.  

A CASA volunteer meets with the child a minimum of once per month.  You help identify and locate resources in the community to meet the child's needs.  You attend all court hearings and other meetings about the case and the children and are the voice of the child in court.  All CASA volunteers maintain a professional level of confidentiality.   

The volunteer position includes the following:

- Greeting clients to the food pantry
- Checking identification
- Checking eligibility and information in Pantry Tracker database
- Basic Data entry in Pantry Tracker database
- Distribution of Food boxes

- Also assists in filling food boxes with available product
- Sometimes checking in donations and food orders as well

Pantry operates weekly, Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30am to 3:30pm
Confidentiality and ability to work well with other staff, volunteers and clients is required.

Help bring the comfort of a meal to older adults by greeting drivers and helping to load their cars with home delivered meals. Volunteers assemble prepackaged meals into hot packs and coolers to be loaded into delivery vehicles. Our Meal Delivery Assistant is the perfect volunteer opportunity for people who are friendly, organized, and looking to make an impact in their community!

Are you interested in making a difference in young people's lives? Join AmeriCorps Mentors for Success to serve as a positive role model and provide much-needed school-based mentoring for middle or high-school students right here in Columbus, Ohio! Mentors are placed in one middle or high school building or other community setting for the fall, where they will provide 1 on 1 mentoring for students who are experiencing attendance/truancy issues and/or students who could use some social-emotional support.

Serve with AmeriCorps (term is September 1, 2031 - May 31, 2024), earn a monthly stipend payment ($1,350/month) and an Education Award (up to $3,447.50) to help repay student loans or pay toward tuition costs!

AmeriCorps Mentors for Success Members receive excellent training at the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio, prior to the start of their service in schools.

If you have a talent for building relationships and an interest in encouraging struggling students to pursue their goals, Mentors for Success is the right team for you.

Members must commit to the entire service period (see dates above), and must be available to serve 30 hours/week during that time frame.
