Volunteer: Saturday Adventures - Help City Teens Get Outside! What We Do Through Adventure Crew, city teens develop the courageous spirit to step out of their comfort zone and discover new worlds - outside in nature, and inside themselves. This deep connection to nature will change the course of their lives, no matter what environment they’re in.
Adventure Crew connects city teens to nature and each other through engaging outdoor adventures. We believe adventure is riding a bike for the first time, feeling mud shift under your boots, or falling over your skis. The outdoors is one of the greatest learning environments of all. Our vision is to see every city teen inspired by nature - and we need your help to do this!
What You Can Do? We're looking for dedicated, positive, team-oriented volunteers to assist with Saturday programs at outdoor recreation sites across the region. Opportunities include kayaking, camp days, ice skating, snowboarding & skiing, camp days, field days, and hiking. We ask for a time commitment of at least one adventure every other month, with typical duration being 4-6 hours. The volunteer process includes indicating interest in volunteering, completing or providing a recent background check, and briefly filling out a volunteer survey, then you're good to go. To sign up and jump right in, fill out our volunteer interest form here: https://www.adventurecrew.org/volunteer
If you'd like to know more before taking the leap, check out our website and hear stories from our staff, volunteers, and Crew teens to learn more here: https://www.adventurecrew.org/ We're excited you're joining this Crew of Adventurers!
Organization: Adventure Crew What We Do Through Adventure Crew, city teens develop the courageous spirit to step out of their comfort zone and discover new worlds - outside in nature, and inside themselves.

Volunteer: Meals to HealAt Turning Point, we understand that healing from domestic violence requires more than just physical safety—it requires nourishment for both the body and the soul. That's why we're proud to continue our Meals to Heal program, designed to provide nutritious and comforting meals for individuals and families staying at our shelter as they work towards independence and healing. Key Features of the Meals to Heal Program: Nutritious Meals for Residents: Our dedicated Shelter Coordinator works hard to provide nutritious food for the individuals and families staying in our shelter, with a weekly grocery pickup with a modest budget. With careful attention to dietary needs and preferences, we ensure that every resident receives nutritious food that not only satisfies their hunger but also provides essential nutrients to support their well-being. Community Support Through Gift Cards: Recognizing the importance of community support in our mission, we gratefully accept donations of gift cards from local restaurants. These gift cards enable us to supplement our grocery budget with offerings from beloved local eateries, including pizza, pasta, subs, and other comforting favorites. This collaborative effort not only provides variety and convenience for our residents but also strengthens ties with our local community. Empowering Residents on Their Journey: For individuals and families staying at Turning Point, the journey towards healing and independence can be challenging, especially for those who are balancing work responsibilities alongside their healing process. By providing nourishing meals through the Meals to Heal program, we aim to alleviate some of the burdens associated with daily meal preparation, allowing residents to focus on their personal growth and healing journey. Promoting Independence and Self-Sufficiency: As residents progress in their healing journey, our goal is to equip them with the skills and resources they need to live independently and sustainably beyond their time at Turning Point. Through the Meals to Heal program, residents learn the importance of nutrition, meal planning, and budgeting, empowering them to make healthier choices and build a foundation for a life free from abuse. Fostering a Sense of Community and Belonging: Sharing meals together fosters a sense of community and belonging among residents, creating opportunities for connection, support, and mutual encouragement. Whether enjoying a home-cooked meal prepared by volunteers or savoring a treat from a local restaurant, residents find comfort and strength in the communal experience of breaking bread together. The Meals to Heal program embodies our commitment to holistic support for survivors of domestic violence, recognizing that nourishing the body and soul is essential on the journey to healing and independence. Through the generosity of our volunteers, donors, and community partners, we continue to provide nourishment, comfort, and hope to those in need. Join us in our mission to create a community where everyone can live a life free from abuse. If you are interested in participating in our Meals to Heal Program, please contact Jaini Shah, Volunteer Coordinator at jshah@turningpoint6.org

Volunteer: Help Stop Elder Abuse in Stark County! The Court Angels program works with the Probate Court to help prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation experienced by seniors and disabled adults under guardianship (wards) in Stark County. We do this by conducting annual in-person visits with the wards, where we aim to provide companionship and ensure that the wards are receiving appropriate care from their guardians. Fortunately, 95% of wards are well looked after. However, there are a few cases where their situations are less than satisfactory. In those cases, we report back to the court where the Judge will intervene and implement changes. Without these visits, the court might not become aware of these issues until it is too late. Volunteer: Comfort Team Volunteers Needed (Defiance)Walking with a family whose baby’s life is expected to be brief, entering into the sacred place where heaven meets earth as they say hello and goodbye to their child, it is a gift most meaningful, and we take this privilege very seriously at Sufficient Grace Ministries. Because every life matters, we want each family to know, they are not walking this path alone. We strive to provide 24 hour availability of quality support from well-trained professionals. Our SGM Comfort Team Volunteers commit to 12 hour on call shifts where they may or may not receive a call. All active volunteers must sign up to serve at minimum one day a month. The most important quality we are looking for in our comfort team volunteers is a heart of compassion and understanding for those who are grieving the loss of a child. Our volunteers are not there to try to fix or try to find the right answer…we are simply there to come alongside as companions walking this path together. Comfort Doulas, Remembrance Photographers, and all perinatal hospice support staff will be expected to: Come alongside grieving parents in various settings: in person, on the telephone, online, at a hospital, birthing center, in a doctor’s office, and at the SGM office. Understand and adhere to the philosophy of care as outlined by SGM and perinatal hospice Help families who receive a fatal diagnosis in pregnancy form a birth plan, help communicate their birth plan to others involved in their care, and help implement the plan according to the family’s wishes Offer encouragement, support, and a listening ear Foster a gentle, non-judgmental environment that helps parents experience their story, their way, creating the most optimalexperience possible under the circumstances Support the idea that each family has been given a gift of time with their child and have the opportunity to embrace his/her life for as long as they are given. Compile and offer bereavement support services and memory-making items (SGM offers an array of suitable items for this purpose. A wealth of resources are available for the doula/support staff through SGM at www.sufficientgraceministries.org) Comfort Doulas/Companions must be approachable and gentle, not imparting their own ideas, but guiding families and suggesting options when applicable.
