Teachers, students, and master gardeners will be working together to create a community garden at Peachblow Crossing Elementary. Through student-led presentations, volunteers and community members will gain a deep understanding of how the School Pollinator Garden at Peachblow Crossing Elementary creates lasting impact across multiple ecological and educational dimensions. Students will share their firsthand experiences and research about the garden's role in supporting local bird and insect populations, demonstrating how this initiative extends beyond the school grounds to benefit the entire community. The garden's integration into the Pollinator Pathway of Delaware County represents a significant step toward creating a larger network of pesticide-free corridors that provide essential habitat and nutrition for pollinators and birds. As part of this broader initiative, the School Pollinator Garden will serve as a vital link in connecting habitats between local schools and community spaces, fostering biodiversity and ecological resilience throughout the region. This connection to the larger Pollinator Pathway network not only amplifies the garden's environmental impact but also provides volunteers with a tangible example of how local conservation efforts contribute to broader regional sustainability goals.

Help Preserve Our Parks' Stories! Do you love local history and want to make a lasting impact? Five Rivers MetroParks is seeking volunteers to help document the historical significance of our parks - especially those that joined our system from the City of Dayton in the 1990's. 

As a Historical Research volunteer, you'll collect and organize historical records, photos, and data researching park histories using archives, libraries and online resources, and catalog your findings into searchable formats for future interpretation. Best of all - you can work independently with regular check-ins with MetroParks staff, or at scheduled shifts with fellow volunteers and MetroParks staff. 

This research helps us document the historical significance of Five Rivers MetroParks and adds richness to how we can interpret the parks to the public.

Led by our Trail staff, these trail maintenance opportunities will focus on revitalizing the trail systems in Englewood MetroPark. Learn alongside like-minded individuals on the whys and how's of building and maintaining a sustainable trail system on these hands-on workdays.

Volunteers who support Trail Maintenance help MetroParks provide safe, consistent, and high-quality trail experiences for visitors with varied interests and levels of abilities in a manner that protects and sustains the natural resources and habitats at each park.

Under the supervision of the assigned staff, support and assist with the following:

​Basic trail maintenance at Englewood MetroPark; Corridor clearing, drainage clearing, tread maintenance, and invasive removal.

iC.A.R.E. Mentoring, a program of Red Oak Behavioral Health, matches caring adults to mentor one student, once a week, for one school year. Our volunteers work with K-12 students in the Akron, Barberton, Cuyahoga Falls, and Tallmadge public schools. We support our volunteers with training, supplies, and a fun & interactive workbook that covers important skills such as goal setting, resilience, and self confidence.

Make a real impact on the lives of Ohio students and their surrounding community - become an AmeriCorps member.  Serve as an advisor and mentor and guide Ohioans by providing the information they need to prepare for, access, and complete a postsecondary credential. 

The AmeriCorps College and Career Guides deliver workshops and advising on college and career exploration and planning to 8th through 12th graders and adult learners. While providing service, members develop marketable advising, mentoring, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

This position is a full-time commitment of 1,700 service hours to be completed 40 hours per week in 11 months in August 2026 through June 2027.  College and Career Guides will receive a living allowance up to $30,000 or $2,727.68 monthly before taxes, and an education award up to $7,395 upon completion of service.

College and Career Guides are eligible for free health care insurance and childcare, and their qualified Federal student loans are eligible for forbearance during time of service.

College and Career Guides receive ongoing skills training and professional development.

Applicants must have earned an Associates degree (required) or Bachelors degree (preferred) or higher, or nearing completion of a bachelor's degree.

This opportunity is for pop-up needs of the Park District. It may involve in office administrative work, fieldwork, or anything in between. Volunteers communicate with staff members to determine what is needed, when, and where. 

To assess butterfly populations along transects within designated Wood County Park District parks. This ongoing project allows volunteers to play a vital role by informing the stewardship department of what species are being seen in parks and their relative numbers, and also in contributing to the picture of butterfly populations around the state in submitting the data to Ohio Lepidopterists. 

Help tend the heritage gardens at the Carter Historic Farm. We will donate most of the produce to the Brown Bag Food Pantry and the remainder will be utilited to teach programming in traditional life skills 

Assisting the Stewardship Department with the native plant program by transplanting seedlings and performing other tasks in the warmth of the greenhouse.

This AmeriCorps position promotes youth nutrition, garden education, and community engagement. The member administers weekly healthy snack demonstrations using seasonal produce, highlighting nutritional benefits and sharing creative ways for youth to try fruits and vegetables. Produce grown in the community garden is delivered to the Summer Food Program site in Elyria to support daily meal preparation for participants. The member maintains the Oberlin community garden by planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting crops while leading garden tours for youth and community members. These tours provide hands-on education about growing food, local food systems, and the importance of healthy, sustainable eating. Foster Grandparents provide mentorship to at risk children through activities such as reading, fine motor activities, small groups, and more.  

Eligible Foster Grandparents may receive a small, non-taxable stipend that does not affect other benefits such as SNAP benefits, subsidized housing, social security, etc.  Foster Grandparents also enjoy mileage or public transportation reimbursement, paid holidays, 40 hours of benefit time every three months, paid training, and more.

Grow vegetables for food insecure communities. Each season Seminary Hill Farm distributes vegetables to People in Need of Delaware County and Linden Fresh Market. We focus on greens (spinach, lettuce, chard, collards, kales, bok choi and more) and fresh herbs. The Community Greens field covers .25 acre (100x110 feet) and is exclusively for distribution to food insecurity partners.

Five Rivers MetroParks provides clean, safe parks and conservation areas for the public to enjoy year-round. Our Park Maintenance volunteers help to manage and sustain 18 beautiful parks, 11 conservation areas, and 160 miles of hike, bike, mountain bike, and horseback-riding trails for park visitors to safely enjoy. Volunteers who support Trail Maintenance help MetroParks provide safe, consistent, and high-quality trail experiences for visitors with varied interests and levels of abilities in a manner that protects and sustains the natural resources and habitats at each park.

Under the supervision of the assigned staff, support and assist with the following:

​Basic trail maintenance in the Twin Valley; Corridor clearing, drainage clearing, and tread maintenance.

The Delaware County Historical Society has members and donors that we need to communicate with for membership renewal and membership "thank you's" 

This position would be responsible for most of the communication to our members.  This includes the ability to work with Excel and Word and to learn to develop reports from our museum management software.  It also includes the ability to compose and print letters in Word using mail merge.

Breakthrough Cincinnati (BTC) exists to reduce disparities in education for under-represented students. The core of BTC’s program is a rigorous and fun college-preparatory summer learning program for high-need and high-potential middle school students in Cincinnati, Ohio. In support of this mission, BTC is seeking AmeriCorps Members with a passion for service and social justice to serve as Teaching Fellows during its 2026 summer program, which runs from June 15, 2026 through August 4, 2026. The AmeriCorps Teaching Fellows will be responsible for delivering academic instruction, including lesson planning, student engagement, classroom management, and administration in order to effectively prepare BTC students to be successful in the upcoming school year and beyond.

What will I be doing? 

As a friendly volunteer, you will be connected to one of our wonderful patients to visit and provide companionship in their home or a facility.

We have an office in Kettering.  Our patients are living in their own homes or in a facility across the Dayton area covering 7 counties.   We will do our best to connect you with someone near you. 

What kind of commitment will this take? 

We are very flexible with your schedule and will work with what you are able and wanting to do. You can visit once a week, twice a week or something that works with your schedule. 

What is required of me to becoming a volunteer? 

There is no experience needed. We will provide all the training you need at no cost to you.

We do require a Background Check, Drug Screening, Fingerprint and TB Test. We cover all cost and walk you through the whole process.

Luminary Hospice is seeking volunteers who sing or play an instrument to share their love of music with a hospice patient.

Many hospice patients have strong connections to music, whether it reminds them of a particular time in their life or simply brings them peace. Our patients are nearing the end of their lives and music can be a powerful means of connecting them to past memories or providing comfort.

What does a hospice volunteer musician do?

Volunteer musicians meet with patients in a facility or private home and sing, play their instrument or just play recorded music for a period of time. Volunteers are encouraged to interact with the patient, discuss music, or even play music from their phone. Visits are scheduled at times that are convenient for you.

What if I don’t have any experience?

Luminary Hospice provides exceptional training for its volunteers. Hospice volunteers receive the same orientation as paid staff in addition to their volunteer-specific training. Our training covers hospice history and basics, as well as special considerations surrounding grief, ethics, and bereavement. You only need to bring an open heart and a willingness to serve others, and we will train you.

About the Program: The Miami County ESC works closely with Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams from area school districts to provide a specialized learning environment for students (Kindergarten through 12th grade) at the Cooperative Learning Center. Along with academic instruction, students attending this school focus on building positive social skills, emotional regulation/coping skills, and increased communication. Instruction is available for students that require modified curriculum (aligned with Ohio’s extended content standards). Also, students have the opportunity for vocational and functional life skills training. Our staff partners with families and outside agencies to provide comprehensive support to students as they work toward their individual goals.

Tending UW Table

Tutors work with elementary school students to help them improve literacy skills one-hour per week. Tutors work with an assigned student in a group setting, strengthening skills such as phonics, word recognition, decoding, & reading aloud. 

CTI will train all tutors prior to prepare them to build a mentoring relationship and to help strengthen reading skills. 

Touch a life, change a life. Volunteer to impact an elementary student for life by helping them strengthen their reading skills.

Volunteer Reviewers will log-in to a virtual one-hour orientation webinar to review the application instructions and process. Reviewers must sign and submit a Conflict of Interest statement.  Reviewers will then independently review their assigned proposals.  Finally, reviewers will log-in to the scheduled virtual team conference call for a facilitated discussion of their assigned proposals.  All application materials must either be destroyed or returned to ServeOhio.

Reviewers should plan to commit between 8 - 15 total hours to the review process as follows:
• Orientation Call: Video call discussing the application process and evaluation criteria – 1 hour.
• Independent Review: Reading and feedback submission on 3 to 6 proposals – 6 to 12 hours.
• Virtual team Meeting: Group discussion – 1 - 2 hours, depending on the discussion and total number of applications to review.

The Behavioral Health (BH) Volunteer, having direct care of children, must submit to local, state and national crime checks and other background checks as requested, including BMV.  The BH Volunteer must also complete required background checks including BCII / FBI with no record of forbidden offenses listed in OAC 5180:2-5-09.  Volunteers for events/activities where they will be supervised by Focus staff and not involving the care or supervision of youth are not required to do background checks.

Volunteers needed on Mondays or Thursdays from June 2 through July 24, 2025.   Most volunteers serve as group guides for school age children grades K-12, divided into 6 age groups.   Group guides get to know the kids (all at-risk, 80% BIPOC), accompany the kids through their learning stations and assist the kids, if needed, at the station.   Times are 11:45am - 2:30pm. 

Most kids stay in the program long-term; there are VERY FEW behavioral issues.   Learning stations are: Literacy, Healthy Living, Bible, and Fun (group games) for elementary.  Teens have Bible study and emotional/relational skills.  Station leaders do teaching at the stations - curriculum is provided.   

When you select a position (most volunteers serve once a week), you are committing to all 8 weeks of the program, but you will have the opportunity to enter any dates you cannot volunteer as you signup.   Have children? They are welcome to enjoy the program as you volunteer!

All volunteers are background-checked and trained.   Volunteer training is May 19 at 7pm or May 22 at noon.

Stockhands Horses for Healing was founded in 2014 based on the belief that horses have the power to heal. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides equine-assisted therapeutic riding services to children and adults living with mental, physical, and emotional challenges. 

We rely on our volunteers to assist with our adaptive riding lessons, maintain our large facility, and care for our herd of 30+ horses. If you do not have any experience working with horses, we will teach you everything you need to know!

We partner with Kent State University staff and students who volunteer to create and assemble literacy kits that are distributed to local Kindergarten and Pre-K students.  Click HERE to learn more about this program and see past Literacy Kits

Park Ambassadors greet visitors, attend the trails, pick up trash, and report items to park staff. Parks with nature centers may have a nature craft station to maintain.

Specific training is required for all Park Ambassadors. 

Volunteer with Hospice Patients and Families. With Gentiva Hospice we provide excellent care so patients and families can make the most of every moment. Gentiva Hospice Cincinnati is welcoming new volunteers to provide companionship and social support. With Gentiva, you have the ability to brighten someone's day with your most valuable tool, YOUR TIME! Read someone a book or magazine, play a game, listen to music together, watch a favorite sports game, pray with them, engage with crafts, or spend time outside to enjoy the sunshine. Sometimes just your caring presence, and a smile is enough to bring comfort and joy to someone during a fragile time in their life.We have patients in nursing facilities and homes throughout Butler, Warren, Hamilton and Clermont Counties. We will work to find an opportunity near you. We pride ourselves in equipping our volunteers with tools they need to be successful and allow volunteers to collaborate with patients with scheduling that is highly flexible. We want volunteering to be easy and convenient for you! We truly believe that not only our patients and families receive positive support from your time, but that YOU will feel accomplished and joyful after a companionship visit. You do not need to have any experience or a specific skill set, we will provide all necessary training.

The AmeriCorps Youth Peer Support Specialist will provide direct peer-to-peer support, mentorship, and guidance to youth who are experiencing challenges related to mental health, substance use, navigating difficult life transitions, or other social-emotional needs. Drawing on their own lived experiences, the Peer Support Specialist will serve as a relatable role model, fostering hope, empowerment, and a sense of belonging for program participants. This position is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people while gaining valuable experience in the fields of youth development, social work, and public health.

Peer Support and Mentorship: Develop and maintain supportive, trusting relationships with youth participants, acting as a positive role model. Share personal experiences of recovery, resilience, and successful navigation of challenges in a way that is empowering and appropriate. Listen empathetically to youth concerns, offering non-judgmental support and validation. Assist youth in identifying their strengths, goals, and developing coping strategies. Provide encouragement and motivation to engage in positive activities and healthy behaviors.

Resource Navigation and Support: Connect youth with appropriate community resources, including mental health services, substance use treatment, educational support, employment opportunities, housing assistance, and social services. Support youth needs within systems (e.g., school, juvenile justice, healthcare, etc.) as appropriate and with proper consent. Help youth navigate complex systems and understand their rights.

Group Facilitation: Co-facilitate or lead workshops, and psychoeducation sessions on topics relevant to youth well-being (e.g., stress management, communication skills, healthy relationships, goal setting, etc.). Create a safe and inclusive environment for group participation.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with youth, progress toward goals, and referrals.

Professional Development: Complete required AmeriCorps program documentation and reports in timely manner. Participate in regular supervision (at host site) and team meetings (at Talbert House). Actively participate in all AmeriCorps and program-specific training, including those related to peer support ethics, youth development, Mental Health First Aid, cultural competencies, and others as identified by program. Engage in ongoing personal and professional growth.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude toward all youth. Punctual, dependable and able to manage a flexible schedule, which may include some evenings or weekends. Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team. A strong desire to serve the community and empower young people.

This is a Volunteer Position. It is FABULOUS EXPERIENCE in a Christian Medical Ministry! As an intern at Grace Clinics of Ohio, your role may vary depending on your background, interests, field of study and the Clinic’s needs.

Love staying active and helping others? Volunteer at our fitness center or pool—greet members, help them sign in, and enjoy free fitness or pool walking sessions! Just one 2-hour shift a week, with casual workout attire encouraged and CPR training included (on us!).

The Volunteer Receptionist assists in the daily operations of the administrative office, including incoming and outgoing calls, answering the main entrance door and greeting guests. This role will assist with maintaining administrative data processes, procedures, protocols and tools for the highest level of customer service to all neighbors, guests, volunteers and staff. For this volunteer position we do require applicants to interview and go through our selection process.

Our order ahead program allows our neighbors in need to order groceries online and schedule their pick-up time on Wednesdays. We have a need for a volunteer to help administer the program, they will be responsible for receiving phone calls from neighbors calling in to pick-up orders. The order ahead volunteer will also take orders to neighbors. Pick-ups are scheduled between 10am and 7pm. Volunteers generally work in two or three hour shifts.
