Additional Notes

We need hot meals prepared, delivered and served to our Skate Church nights. This is a great project for a small group or family. Please provide enough food for 40-50 people and be prepared for 2-3 people to stay and serve it if possible!

Meals are served at approximately 6:45/7pm right after a short message & prayer. We provide plates, bowls, napkins, utensils & cups. We also have several serving spoons/tongs available. 

We do not have an oven to keep things warm; there are power outlets available.

Popular choices include crock pot meals/casseroles etc. It can be simple! These hungry skaters aren't too picky.

Reading Role Models are needed for 2 Pre -K classrooms and 2 Kindergarten classrooms at 2:30 p.m. for the dates listed.

Five Rivers MetroParks lakes, ponds, and rivers are rich in fish life. All members of the family, young and old, can find a place to fish for recreation, relaxation, or food. Our Outdoor Recreation team creates the learning environment to help individuals build skills to be successful in these activities.  Catching a fish on a fly you created is so rewarding, and a skill many want to learn.  Nimble fingers are a plus with this mini task, and as with all skills first learned, extra support in the class is essential.  You do not need to be an expert to be program support for this opportunity, but it is always a plus.  This is a 4 week class, and it is encouraged that volunteers sign up to help for the series.

Volunteers help build access, comfort, convenience, and safety into our programs for all interested in learning.  They enable more individualized support for first-time learners in this valuable skill-building program.  They help people make a stronger connection to nature by making it easy to experience the outdoors in fun activities.

Love kids? Spend your time hanging out with the most adventurous youth in Dayton! The after-school program at Adventure Central promotes positive youth development, education, and leadership skills using an environmental foundation in a welcoming, safe, fun, and active setting. These kids are just bursting with energy and excitement! Depending on where the greatest need is for the day, the Program Assistant may spend time helping in the homework room, assisting in the kitchen during mealtimes, or outdoors monitoring play time and getting roped into all sorts of shenanigans from playing in the creek to jumping rope, to gaga ball!  Volunteers may also assist in the girl's or boy's group discussions and activities.

Volunteers will build trusting and positive relationships that strengthen values, build lasting life skills, and encourage an eagerness to explore life’s possibilities.

Park Ambassadors greet visitors, attend the trails, pick up trash, and report items to park staff. Parks with nature centers may have a nature craft station to maintain.

Specific training is required for all Park Ambassadors. 

Do you enjoy being around kids?  Know your way around a kitchen? Support our kitchen staff in preparing, serving, and cleaning up simple meals for the after-school program kids at Adventure Central.

Volunteers will provide nourishing meals and build positive relationships that strengthen values, build lasting life skills and encourage an eagerness to explore life’s possibilities.

Volunteer with Hospice Patients and Families. With Gentiva Hospice we provide excellent care so patients and families can make the most of every moment. Gentiva Hospice Cincinnati is welcoming new volunteers to provide companionship and social support. With Gentiva, you have the ability to brighten someone's day with your most valuable tool, YOUR TIME! Read someone a book or magazine, play a game, listen to music together, watch a favorite sports game, pray with them, engage with crafts, or spend time outside to enjoy the sunshine. Sometimes just your caring presence, and a smile is enough to bring comfort and joy to someone during a fragile time in their life.We have patients in nursing facilities and homes throughout Butler, Warren, Hamilton and Clermont Counties. We will work to find an opportunity near you. We pride ourselves in equipping our volunteers with tools they need to be successful and allow volunteers to collaborate with patients with scheduling that is highly flexible. We want volunteering to be easy and convenient for you! We truly believe that not only our patients and families receive positive support from your time, but that YOU will feel accomplished and joyful after a companionship visit. You do not need to have any experience or a specific skill set, we will provide all necessary training.

The AmeriCorps Youth Peer Support Specialist will provide direct peer-to-peer support, mentorship, and guidance to youth who are experiencing challenges related to mental health, substance use, navigating difficult life transitions, or other social-emotional needs. Drawing on their own lived experiences, the Peer Support Specialist will serve as a relatable role model, fostering hope, empowerment, and a sense of belonging for program participants. This position is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people while gaining valuable experience in the fields of youth development, social work, and public health.

Peer Support and Mentorship: Develop and maintain supportive, trusting relationships with youth participants, acting as a positive role model. Share personal experiences of recovery, resilience, and successful navigation of challenges in a way that is empowering and appropriate. Listen empathetically to youth concerns, offering non-judgmental support and validation. Assist youth in identifying their strengths, goals, and developing coping strategies. Provide encouragement and motivation to engage in positive activities and healthy behaviors.

Resource Navigation and Support: Connect youth with appropriate community resources, including mental health services, substance use treatment, educational support, employment opportunities, housing assistance, and social services. Support youth needs within systems (e.g., school, juvenile justice, healthcare, etc.) as appropriate and with proper consent. Help youth navigate complex systems and understand their rights.

Group Facilitation: Co-facilitate or lead workshops, and psychoeducation sessions on topics relevant to youth well-being (e.g., stress management, communication skills, healthy relationships, goal setting, etc.). Create a safe and inclusive environment for group participation.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with youth, progress toward goals, and referrals.

Professional Development: Complete required AmeriCorps program documentation and reports in timely manner. Participate in regular supervision (at host site) and team meetings (at Talbert House). Actively participate in all AmeriCorps and program-specific training, including those related to peer support ethics, youth development, Mental Health First Aid, cultural competencies, and others as identified by program. Engage in ongoing personal and professional growth.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude toward all youth. Punctual, dependable and able to manage a flexible schedule, which may include some evenings or weekends. Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team. Are you interested in local history? Help document the historical significance of Five Rivers MetroParks to our region by conducting independent research and collecting historical information about our parks. We are creating detailed timelines of our park histories to learn what stories to tell and how best to preserve our historical places. This volunteer opportunity can be done independently, with regular check-ins with FRMP staff.

This research helps us document the historical significance of Five Rivers MetroParks and adds richness to how we can interpret the parks to the public.

The Volunteer Receptionist assists in the daily operations of the administrative office, including incoming and outgoing calls, answering the main entrance door and greeting guests. This role will assist with maintaining administrative data processes, procedures, protocols and tools for the highest level of customer service to all neighbors, guests, volunteers and staff. For this volunteer position we do require applicants to interview and go through our selection process.

Our order ahead program allows our neighbors in need to order groceries online and schedule their pick-up time on Wednesdays. We have a need for a volunteer to help administer the program, they will be responsible for receiving phone calls from neighbors calling in to pick-up orders. The order ahead volunteer will also take orders to neighbors. Pick-ups are scheduled between 10am and 7pm. Volunteers generally work in two or three hour shifts.

Assist with stocking donations onto shelves and packing food into sufficient bags for future distribution.

To provide bags of food already assembled, plus frozen and cold food to veterans on the 1st and 2nd Saturday of each month.

Mercy Health and AmeriCorps have partnered to build Mercy Serves, an energetic, volunteer corps serving in Mercy Health Emergency Departments across the state of Ohio to prevent and reduce substance and opioid use. NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, evidence-based, 8-week educational program for family, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. Family is something different for everyone; and we at NAMI Portage want to recognize that. We want to embrace different definitions of family. NAMI-trained volunteer leaders who have lived experience as family members of a person with a mental illness teach about mental health diagnoses/symptoms, current therapies/treatments, communication strategies, coping skills, and self-care.

We are looking for someone with lived experience as a family member/caregiver of someone living with a mental health condition to teach our Family-to-Family course.

Peer-to-Peer is an eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves, their diagnosis, and their recovery. NAMI-trained volunteer leaders with lived experience provide a safe, confidential space where participants learn about setting goals, mental health treatment options, how to strengthen personal relationships and partner with healthcare providers, and stress management/self-care.

We are looking for a peer, living with a mental health condition, to teach our 8-week course. 

CONNECTION support groups are peer led support groups open to all adults that have experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. These support groups are 90-minutes; and are led by NAMI-trained individuals. These groups are a safe space to share one’s coping strategies, learn from each other’s experiences, and offer acceptance and understanding.

We are looking for an individual with lived experience as someone living with a mental health condition to facilitate a support group for fellow peers.

Family support groups are volunteer led groups for family members and loved ones of someone that has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Our Simba Mentor Program is uniquely curated for youth identifying as Black boys, and we are seeking Black and other Men of Color to serve as mentors, fostering individual relationships, implementing creative programming initiatives, and nurturing community bonds. Currently, we are recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers to serve as mentors for six months as part of our mentor Cohort, "60 for Six."

Objective:

The "60 for Six" initiative aims to recruit, train, and support 60 community members to mentor youth involved with Franklin County Children Services over a six-month period.

Volunteers would be helping at local community blood drives a couple of times a month. 

The American Red Cross Office at 416 Main St. Coshocton is closed at this time due to COVID-19.

We will be continuing this much needed volunteer work in Westwood.  These opportunities are ongoing however in the moth of June we will meet each Saturday (weather permitting to do some good in the neighborhood.

We need a person with creative ideas to help promote our Ohio Gourd Show.

We have three people helping with publicity now, but they need help in carrying out the ideas we already have.   If we had 2-3 more people it would make it easier on everyone and we could accomplish so much more.    We need more exposure in the Delaware community as well as key locations around the state of Ohio.     If you are an idea person and willing to contact radio stations and newspapers, etc. then WE NEED YOU.

If you have a flare for writing and knowledge of doing an online newsletter for our non profit society…..We need you.     The newsletter comes out quarterly and our President would give you information to include.   There may be a few that would need the newsletter mailed to them.

  The Village of Lakemore and SuperLearning Center students will build floating wetlands and launch them into Springfield Lake.  These floating wetlands will help soak up stormwater runoff and filter the water for the aquatic life in Springfield Lake.

Every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. we have developmentally disabled adults come from different Goodwill Day Programs. We play games, make crafts, do service projects, learn life skills and do all kinds of other fun things - even having a drum circle. It's a great time with amazing people, and a very rewarding volunteer experience.  Hope you can join us.

The Board of Trustees sets policy for our Family Promise affiliate and provides oversight and guidance to the Executive Director.

Skills and Experience:

Knowledge of fundraising principles, donor cultivation, and sponsorship development. Strong research skills to identify potential funding sources and grant opportunities. Experience in writing proposals, business plans, or similar documents.

Other Qualifications:

Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently to create a structured plan. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members. Creativity and strategic thinking in approaching fundraising challenges.

The Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio has started an A1C, glucose, and blood pressure screening program in conjunction with community partners.  We have a special focus on underserved populations who are most at risk, including Blacks, Latinos, the unhoused, rural residents, and other marginalized groups.

Our goal is to provide basic health screenings, answer questions, and provide resources for follow-up care.   Students will assist with blood pressure and blood glucose screenings as well as Point-of-care HgA1c testing.  

At all events students should be able to provide basic information about high blood pressure, diabetes, and their potential effect on kidney function.  Students will need to have the knowledge and skill for collecting Blood Glucose and Blood Pressure (both covered from class) as well as HgA1c using an A1cNow+ Test Kit.

This role involves listening to individuals' concerns, offering prayers for healing, comfort, strength, and creating a peaceful, supportive atmosphere in the clinic. The Prayer Volunteer contributes to the holistic care model by addressing the spiritual well-being of patients and fostering a sense of hope and peace. 

The Podiatrist at Grace Clinics of Ohioprovides specialized care for patients with foot, ankle, and lower limb conditions. This role involves diagnosing, treating, and preventing a variety of podiatric issues, including injuries, deformities, and chronic conditions. The Podiatrist plays a vital role in improving mobility, alleviating pain, and enhancing the overall quality of life for underserved individuals. 

The Physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP), including Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA), at Grace Clinics of Ohio delivers comprehensive, compassionate medical care to underserved patients. This role involves diagnosing and treating medical conditions, prescribing medications, and collaborating with other healthcare providers to create individualized treatment plans. The Physician/APP plays a critical role in enhancing patient health outcomes and ensuring accessible care for individuals in need.
