and Oregon Historic District residents in crossing U.S. Route 35. Throughout the years, vandalism and
litter has become an issue/deterrent to usage. As such, we have recently begun hosting
neighborhood clean-up days to address this issue. In addition, community art installations have
proven to provide additional deterrents to vandalism/graffiti and litter. Thus, we have worked
with the City of Dayton to gain their approval to install a mural/paint the retaining
walls/walkway leading up to the pedestrian bridge. One portion/side of the wall is already in
process and has receive great community support/feedback. And we have heard/seen more South
Park and Oregon Historic District residents now enjoying/using the walkway to conduct their
business/downtown shopping efforts, jogging/running, biking, etc. Plus, we have seen a
significant decrease in graffiti since putting some initial paint on the wall. We believe that all of
the downtown Dayton community members will benefit from this endeavor being continued.
