The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program of Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Loga, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby counties has an urgent need for volunteers. In this region, there are 217 long-term care facilities with over 16,000 residents in long-term care. The program needs volunteer Ombudsmen to advocate for excellence in long-term care, visiting residents in long-term care facilities, educating them and empowering them to exercise their rights.
These advocacy visits reveal unheard complaints, concerns, suggestions, and questions from residents about care. Free training to certify the volunteer as an Ombudsman as well as additional infection control and PPE training and supplies will be provided. Remote volunteer opportunities are also available.
