Volunteer: Help Stop Elder Abuse in Stark County!The Court Angels program works with the Probate Court to help prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation experienced by seniors and disabled adults under guardianship (wards) in Stark County. We do this by conducting annual in-person visits with the wards, where we aim to provide companionship and ensure that the wards are receiving appropriate care from their guardians. Fortunately, 95% of wards are well looked after. However, there are a few cases where their situations are less than satisfactory. In those cases, we report back to the court where the Judge will intervene and implement changes. Without these visits, the court might not become aware of these issues until it is too late.
