Peer-to-Peer is an eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves, their diagnosis, and their recovery. NAMI-trained volunteer leaders with lived experience provide a safe, confidential space where participants learn about setting goals, mental health treatment options, how to strengthen personal relationships and partner with healthcare providers, and stress management/self-care.

We are looking for a peer, living with a mental health condition, to teach our 8-week course. 

CONNECTION support groups are peer led support groups open to all adults that have experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. These support groups are 90-minutes; and are led by NAMI-trained individuals. These groups are a safe space to share one’s coping strategies, learn from each other’s experiences, and offer acceptance and understanding.

We are looking for an individual with lived experience as someone living with a mental health condition to facilitate a support group for fellow peers.

Family support groups are volunteer led groups for family members and loved ones of someone that has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Family is something different for everyone; and we at NAMI Portage want to recognize that. We want to embrace different definitions of family. Each group is 90-minutes; and led by NAMI-trained volunteers. These groups are a safe place to share one’s coping strategies, learn from each other’s experiences, and offer acceptance and understanding.

We are looking for volunteers with lived experience as a family member and/or caregiver of someone living with a mental health condition to facilitate a support group for other family members/caregivers.

Objective:

The "60 for Six" initiative aims to recruit, train, and support 60 community members to mentor youth involved with Franklin County Children Services over a six-month period.

We will be continuing this much needed volunteer work in Westwood.  These opportunities are ongoing however in the moth of June we will meet each Saturday (weather permitting to do some good in the neighborhood.

  The Village of Lakemore and SuperLearning Center students will build floating wetlands and launch them into Springfield Lake.  These floating wetlands will help soak up stormwater runoff and filter the water for the aquatic life in Springfield Lake.

Every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. we have developmentally disabled adults come from different Goodwill Day Programs. We play games, make crafts, do service projects, learn life skills and do all kinds of other fun things - even having a drum circle. The Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio has started an A1C, glucose, and blood pressure screening program in conjunction with community partners.  We have a special focus on underserved populations who are most at risk, including Blacks, Latinos, the unhoused, rural residents, and other marginalized groups.

Our goal is to provide basic health screenings, answer questions, and provide resources for follow-up care.   Students will assist with blood pressure and blood glucose screenings as well as Point-of-care HgA1c testing.  

At all events students should be able to provide basic information about high blood pressure, diabetes, and their potential effect on kidney function.  Students will need to have the knowledge and skill for collecting Blood Glucose and Blood Pressure (both covered from class) as well as HgA1c using an A1cNow+ Test Kit.

This role involves diagnosing and treating medical conditions, prescribing medications, and collaborating with other healthcare providers to create individualized treatment plans. Coaches attend 8 hours of training and are expected to co-lead two sessions yearly. The classes with the seniors are fund and the rewards are great!

Our senior adult day service is a safe place for seniors to go and be able to stay active in their community, a place to go while their caregiver works or is outside the home. Each day the center offers games, activities, hot meals and snacks as well as individual attention.

As a volunteer, you will assist with activities throughout the day and serve as a companion to the participants.

Help students achieve their GED by volunteering your time and skills to help tutor them. These opportunities are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You will be paired with a student and will follow them through their journey to graduation!

This new Map for Life club at UC is based on our proven Map program, which helps individuals, couples and families physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually, including life purpose. Now we want to offer it to more students and others you may know. We want to help prevent life problems BEFORE they start or keep them from getting worse.

The Coordinator role is part of a student leadership team or board, who report to the executive director in Dayton, Ohio. The first step in kicking off a new group is to build a leadership team and a number of other participants. You'll work as a team to recruit and kick off the club and then help promote and maintain it over time. We have a head start, but we can use your help! You'll have direct support from the executive director and others.

Seeds of Caring’s adult volunteers are known as “Ambassadors.” Join our group of behind-the-scenes Ambassadors who serve as boots-on-the-ground support for our programming. We appreciate your commitment to bring more kindness than ever before to our community — and to empowering our youth to lead the charge!

Our Ambassador opportunities are flexible both in scheduling and in the variety of ways to help. Each month, we will share a list of Ambassador opportunities and you can choose what best fits your schedule and interests. Ambassador opportunities take 1.5 - 3 hours of time and the majority of them can be completed from home. An Ambassador’s time commitment is flexible, although we ask you sign up for at least four opportunities per year.

Alzheimer's Association Community Representatives are community engagers that raise awareness of Alzheimer's Association programs, provide basic disease information, and link consumers to Alzheimer’s Association services.

Community Representatives:

Represent the Alzheimer's Association at a target of 12 community events / year (in person or virtually) in neighborhoods, rural counties, business and civic organizations or faith communities.

Offer 20-minute Introduction to Alzheimer’s presentations for community organizations, congregations, civic organizations, sororities / fraternities, clubs and other locations.

Promote support groups, education programs, Alzheimer & Brain Awareness Month, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, or The Longest Day using your local connections, bulletin boards, social media and physical displays in your community.

Connect the Alzheimer's Association to new community organizations and connect people with additional Association services and volunteer opportunities.

The Association is seeking volunteer candidates with:

Self-motivated individual that is comfortable reaching out to individuals, organizations and families in need and connecting them to the Alzheimer's Association.

Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia.

Present pertinent Association materials and information to group members and assure a positive experience for attendees.

Community Educators are volunteer public speakers who help the Alzheimer's Association provide consumer education. These volunteers deliver prepared presentations on topics related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Community Educators:

Deliver approximately 12 presentations (in person or virtually) annually using prepared Alzheimer’s Association consumer education programs on a variety of care and support topics.

Teachers, students, and master gardeners will be working together to create a community garden at Peachblow Crossing Elementary. Through student-led presentations, volunteers and community members will gain a deep understanding of how the School Pollinator Garden at Peachblow Crossing Elementary creates lasting impact across multiple ecological and educational dimensions. Students will share their firsthand experiences and research about the garden's role in supporting local bird and insect populations, demonstrating how this initiative extends beyond the school grounds to benefit the entire community. The garden's integration into the Pollinator Pathway of Delaware County represents a significant step toward creating a larger network of pesticide-free corridors that provide essential habitat and nutrition for pollinators and birds. As part of this broader initiative, the School Pollinator Garden will serve as a vital link in connecting habitats between local schools and community spaces, fostering biodiversity and ecological resilience throughout the region. This connection to the larger Pollinator Pathway network not only amplifies the garden's environmental impact but also provides volunteers with a tangible example of how local conservation efforts contribute to broader regional sustainability goals.

You could play a card game or just hang with some good friends. If it's warm, there's soccer and a skatepark. You can enjoy time in the sun or sit back in the shade with some buddies. In this ongoing project, volunteers have the opportunity to assess native plant bloom times and populations within select Wood County Park District parks. This project allows volunteers to play a vital role in identifying both native and invasive species and determine where those species are, allowing the stewardship department to create better management plans. 

The Native Plant Monitoring program runs through October 1st, 2025, and all hours spent volunteering will need to be recorded by December 1st, 2025.

Since its inception in July 2021, The Catholic Social Services’ RideConnect program has made significant strides in bridging the transportation gap for our communities. As the program celebrates its third anniversary, it is reaching out to the community for new volunteer drivers to help expand its services and continue to make a difference in the lives of residents.

RideConnect, a grassroots initiative dedicated to providing reliable and accessible transportation has been instrumental in connecting individuals to essential services such as medical appointments, grocery shopping, and community events. The program has proven to be a lifeline for many, particularly for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those without access to personal vehicles.  However, the program is dependent on volunteers and their availability to provide these services to individuals in need.

What does a hospice volunteer musician do?

Volunteer musicians meet with patients in a facility or private home and sing, play their instrument or just play recorded music for a period of time. Volunteers are encouraged to interact with the patient, discuss music, or even play music from their phone. Visits are scheduled at times that are convenient for you.
