Who We Are

Our Mission Improve the quality of life in our community by uniting people and resources. Our Vision To be the known collaborator, trusted problem solver, and change agent to create a community where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through wellness, stability, and lifelong learning. History For over 50 years, United Way of Delaware County (UWDC) has been a community problem solver and change maker. Serving the fastest-growing county in the state, the UWDC strives to keep up with a changing community and fill existing gaps. Priorities are identified through community research and analysis, and the UWDC is strategic about the funds distributed through collective impact initiatives. Focus areas include: education through programs and services that help children and youth achieve their potential increased access to quality childcare and early childhood education youth mentoring programs and after-school programs advocacy for abused and neglected children

What We Do

Improving the quality of life, the United Way of Delaware County provides residents with direct services, programs addressing educational opportunities, and needs and resources. We convene, connect, develop programming, provide and deliver programs, and are filling in gaps in services when others cannot or finding someone to fill in that gap. United Way of Delaware County oversees the Delaware County Hunger Alliance, Delaware County Against Human Trafficking Coalition, the Delaware County Housing Alliance, and the Strengthening Families Initiative. The Strengthening Families (SF) Initiative, a United Way of Delaware County (UWDC) Collective Impact model, coordinates strategies to address community needs. SF Initiative enhances the lives of Delaware County residents through comprehensive programming and collaborations. SF partners are working towards a community where children and families learn, grow, and thrive through a network of trauma-informed partners. UWDC provides a community “hub” for afterschool, wellness, and family programming along with crisis resources/services in a “one-stop shop” format across the street from the only homeless shelter, down the street from the Domestic Violence shelter, and around the corner from the UWDC Young Adult Transitional Living program. Since 2017, the UWDC and agency partners provide a myriad of programs and services on the second floor, along with a first floor located county-wide UWDC Family Resource Center (which includes an emergency/crisis food pantry, a diaper bank location and hub for 7 other locations), along with resources & referrals.
