Who We Are

Akron Parks Collaborative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of working to engage the community around the creation and sustainability of vibrant public spaces within the City of Akron. We foster and support neighborhood parks advocates by enabling them to meet their goals, partner with the city and instill a sense of stewardship among parks users. Our intended impact is that every neighborhood has created a plan for its parks, developed with and for community members, with resources for implementation and maintenance.

What We Do

We are building a movement to equitably improve our neighborhood parks to provide all the benefits Akron people desire.

Akron Parks Challenge

The Akron Parks Challenge invites neighborhood residents, leaders and organizations alike to pitch their vision for how to improve their favorite Akron park. APC supports selected applicants in engaging the rest of their neighborhood to support design, implementation and upkeep. Through this program, over $3,000,000 of city and private dollars have been invested in neighborhood parks since 2018.

Park Friends Groups

A Park Friends Group is an open & inclusive group of community members who actively work to steward, improve, and plan programming at their neighborhood park. Individual groups are connected to one another through a larger network under Akron Parks Collaborative, allowing them to share resources and information throughout the city.
