Who We Are
Public Health AmeriCorps shows the American people the tangible impact of American Rescue Plan Act funding and how government can operate at its best to meet community needs, through partnership and coordination with community-based organizations, local government, and public health agencies. Public Health AmeriCorps program will support health equity, mental health, and substance use disorders, COVID-19 recovery, and will increase access to services, especially in underserved communities.
What We Do
The Ohio State University Extension Public Health AmeriCorps (EPHAC) program supports the recruitment, training, and development of the next generation of public health leaders who will be ready to respond to the nation’s public health needs.
EPHAC members will work in hubs across the state, to engage community stakeholders, including youth, to determine through assessment, a public health issue that impacts the community, address it, and report the outcomes of the service project.
Goals of the service projects include:
- Address public health needs of local communities by providing support in state and local public health settings.
- Advance more equitable health outcomes for underserved communities.
- Expose youth to public health and other health related career opportunities.
