Who We Are
The Strongsville Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program supported by the Strongsville Fire and Emergency Services. The national CERT program educates individuals on how to assist family, friends, neighbors, and themselves in the event of a disaster. The Strongsville CERT team assists the community year-round at local events; in the aftermath of severe weather; or at other venues where city leaders need the assistance of additional personnel. The CERT program educates people on disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. Training includes the completion of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) courses IS-100 and IS-700. Members will receive CPR/AED and First Aid training as part of the program.
What We Do
The Strongsville CERT team is very active and visible providing First Aid support at community events, such as the following: Memorial Day parade, Rib Burn-off, Fourth of July Fireworks, Homecoming Festival, Rotary Duck Race, as well as other community events. In addition, the team has provided assistance with post severe weather events; participated in the Cuyahoga County Board of Health Covid vaccine point of distribution (PODs); assisted in missing person search and rescue events; participated in Strongsville POD exercise; participated in city-wide active shooter exercise; and role participation during the execution of Strongsville Police sponsored Department of Homeland Security training.
