Who We Are
Community Emergency Response Teams respond in the period immediately after a disaster when emergency personnel are overwhelmed or delayed. CERTs assist first responders when requested and assume many of the same functions as emergency personnel following a disaster. CERTs are not trained to perform all of the functions or respond to the same degree as professional responders. CERTs are a bridge to professional responders until they are able to arrive. By being trained as a CERT to work as a team, neighbors and coworkers will be able to do the greatest good for the greatest number after a disaster. CERTs educate the public in what to do in a disaster, how to prepare for a disaster, and how to help others in a disaster.
