ServeOhio Resources for Volunteer Administrators

  • Volunteering for Youth Resources
    • The Youth ServeOhio Toolkit provides comprehensive steps to create a service project and 47 fully-developed service projects specifically for youth in 5 key impact areas; education, environment, equity & human rights, housing & hunger, and mental health & well-being.
    • InnerView is an innovative platform for high school and college service leaders with a robust platform and resources to empower, engage and develop students to drive positive change.
    • The ServeOhio Community Impact Award is awarded to high school students who complete at least 20 service hours in 4 or more volunteer opportunities over the school year.
  • National Days of Service Grants
    • ServeOhio, in conjunction with AmeriCorps and the American Electric Power Foundation, provides grants to support community service projects organized for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (January), Global Youth Service Day (April), ServeOhio Day (June), and Make a Difference Day (October). Non-profit and public organizations in Ohio including, but not limited to, volunteer connector organizations, school districts, community colleges, universities, and local governments are eligible to apply. 
  • Volunteer Engagement Fundamentals Course
    • ServeOhio provides a comprehensive volunteer management training course, Volunteer Engagement Fundamentals. This virtual 6-week course is offered twice per year in the spring and fall and is comprised of six weekly 90-minute sessions focused on key volunteer management practices. Sessions will equip participants with a strong foundation to successfully engage volunteers within their organization. The course is designed for new and mid-level volunteer engagement professionals (0 – 5 years’ experience) in Ohio who work in nonprofit, community, faith-based, higher education, or government organizations.
  • Ohio Conference on Service and Volunteerism
    • Each fall, ServeOhio hosts the annual Ohio Conference on Service & Volunteerism for volunteer program administrators, national service program directors, AmeriCorps members, philanthropy managers, and nonprofit leaders. The purpose of the conference is to create opportunities for inspiration, connection, and building of 21st century skill sets that support the continued evolution and impact of Ohio's service and volunteerism professions. 
  • ServeOhio Awards
    • The ServeOhio Awards recognize outstanding people, groups, and initiatives in each region of Ohio who make great contributions to their communities through service and volunteerism. A cash award of $1,000 is issued to support the organization which benefited from the winner’s service. The awards are presented each year during National Volunteer Week in April.
